Chief Retirement Architect
I serve as (a part-time) Chief Retirement Architect at Guardian Capital where I am collaborating on an exclusive Canadian basis to deliver insightful thought leadership and best-in-class solutions to address retirement income challenges. In particular, I am designing new products based on “tontine thinking”, creating advisor-specific articles, commentary, white papers and investor-facing practice management tools focused on the decumulation phase of the lifecycle.
Managing Director, PILECO
I am managing director of PiLECo, which is a private consulting firm that develops algorithms, intellectual property and long-term investment strategy for extending any portfolio’s longevity. In essence, PiLECo is in the business of helping endowments, pension plans, family offices and individuals ensure their funds last for as long possible. We do this using a unique process of (i.) quantifying, (ii.) protecting, (iii.) extending and then (iv.) monitoring the many dimensions of financial longevity, to ensure they are aligned with the objectives of the trustees and sponsors.
Targeted White Papers
In addition to my formal academic writing, I write non-scholarly White Papers sponsored and paid for by organizations in the financial industry; mutual fund companies, insurance companies as well as trade organizations interested in furthering or promoting a particular viewpoint. These (non-peer reviewed) articles are effectively work-for-hire, confidentially negotiated on a case by case basis, but depend on my interests and availability.
